New Names!!

There have been multiple requests to add names to the voting list. Because I am a man of the people, I have decided to add 5 more names. You will notice a new poll in the right with the new names. I will ultimately add up all the entries to determine the winner.

Below is the justification to all the new names:

Bruno: This is a Swiss name suggested by my dad. "You can't name a Swiss dog anything other than a Swiss name."

Buster: This one comes from Davis Jenkins and is for Buster Posey. Davis is a huge Giants fan and believes that all dogs should be named Buster until some other team wins the World Series.

Cassius: Yup, as in in Cassius Clay (AKA Mr. Ali). This is a cool name for a dog.

Chuck: This is the name that I have been calling this dog for 10 years. He has always been Chuck.

Lynyrd: Yup, as in the greatest classic rock band of all time. Don't you think Lenny is a great name for a dog?

Add you thoughts and please vote for the best name. Hey, at least is gives you all a chance to vote again.

The Mom and the Dad

The following two pictures are of the mom and dad of the new puppy. The mom's name is Jenne (like Jenny) and the dad's name is Jumanji. You'll notice that the dad has won best of breed in a national dog show. He is a stud (no pun intended)! Also, the puppy picture on the right hand side of the page is a male from the last litter of these two - handsome huh. So really, this is not their first go-around.

Two New Names! Get Ready.

There have been two name suggestions to add to the list. Both are quite creative and, although I am not sure I am totally in love with either, I feel an obligation to the masses to present both. The first, presented by my lovely little sister, is Senior Frank. That is Senior with an accent to make it sound . . . well . . . Latin (for lack of a better word). I am unsure why a Swiss dog needs a Spanish name, but I'll give you all a chance to comment. The second, presented by friends from our life in Omaha, is Brewster. Try not to think of Punky, lest all hope of this name disappearing. It is the playful, romping Brewster. Once again, not my favorite, but feel free to comment.

Vote! I need help.

So how is it that I have 122+ pageviews but only 23 votes? Come on people, vote for a name. I need the help. It only is a click away on the right hand side of the blog. If you have another name that is not on the list, just add it in a comment below (example: Senior Frank from Emily). For those who have already voted, thank you.

Entlebucher Mountain Dog

For years I have wanted to purchase an Entlebucher Mountain Dog. What kind of dog is this, you ask? He is a medium, short-haired Swiss dog that was recently accepted as an official AKC breed. He is a sweet tempered, loyal breed that I intend to use for hiking, showing, and as a great companion. Click here for more info.

The problem is that I am having difficulty naming this dog. For years I have called him "CHUCK". For reasons that need not be shared, I cannot name the dog Chuck. I am completely lost. Thus the "Name My Dog Blog". Please vote!

Here is the description and justification for each listed name:

Bridger - Named for the Bridger-Teton mountain range (otherwise known as the Windriver Range). This is my most favorite place in the world.

Luke - I am a HUGE Star Wars fan and Luke Skywalker is a stud. I also loved my parent's dog in Ghana - named Luke.

Reacher - Without question, I am the biggest Jack Reacher/Lee Child fan in the world. If you have not experienced these books, you have not lived. Start with the book called "The Persuader."

Rogue - Overall cool name. And a mountain in France.

Shan - This is the Chinese word for mountain. Our other dog's name is Mei-Mei (meaning little sister in Chinese). This would follow the trend.

Now that you know the names you can vote on the right. Good luck and thank you.
